Excited for late buck.
« on: November 04, 2012, 02:43:07 PM »
This I officially my second year archery hunting, but in reality my first. Last year I really only got out one time and it was only for a few hours.
This year I missed early due to our third child being born so I am ready for late buck. (Picking up hay bales tomorrow so I can shoot every day till the 21st).
Any good tips? I'll be island hunting up near deception pass. My brother is preacherman on here and is going to take me to the areas he hits.

My only advice has to follow a question. Can a hay bale stop an arrow from today's bows?

I built a target cover :chuckle: and then I bought six used cedar bales from Tacoma Sportsmen's club. I stacked them in two groups, three high, and then strapped them all down nice and tight. And even with the cedar bales my arrows go right through and stick out 8" of the 7/16's plywood (well, that chip stuff) in the back.

I now have a Spider Web target and a Rhinehart's in front of the cedar bales. But if I mess up, I am still out back with a knife digging my arrow out :yike:

So, sorry, I guess I have no advice, I only had a question,  :hello:I am useless

Thanks guys. I'm pretty excited to get some time out this season.

The hay has always worked for me before. I don't use cedar I just buy hay and shoot it up and then give it to my dad for his goats.

Just shoot everyday all year  even if it is just one arrow.  That one arrow can help in a hunting situation, pressure to make that perfect shot without being warmed up. my  :twocents:

Well did a bunch of shooting this morning. My arm is exhausted. I can't wait for season to open! Groupings looked pretty good for the first shooting in months. Looking to tighten it down in the next week.

That's exactly my plan. Deer hunt all day Wednesday, duck hunt the morning of Thanksgiving, break for football and food, and then hunting Thursday and all day Froday!
