Who else is hunting the Swakane next week?
« on: November 15, 2012, 12:24:35 PM »
Who is ready for the madness? I'm absolutely pumped! I've waited all year for this hunt.

I was out last weekend ran into a shooter buck in an area I was never expecting him this early waaay down low. About 24" wide, tall dark antlers. Big 4x4 with eyegaurd main frame with some stickers. I netted him at 155-160" and he had about 9 does with him. Haven't been able to focus on anything else since...

Hopefully we'll get some weather!

Well, you can expect a few more now after your post

I quit that hunt a few years ago after the crowds got crazy and it wasn't enjoyable anymore with all the pressure.  About 25 years of good memories though.

Once you get into the category of "Madhouse" that the Swakane late hunt falls into, a few extra hunters aren't going to make a difference.  :chuckle:

Just dive into an ungodly hell hole and the hunters start to dwindle....fast!

Me and 500 of my closest friends will be there.  Of course by day 2 or 3 when they find out how bad the road is and how steep and deep off road is it will just be a few of us.  7 in my group hunting and 17 wives/children just hanging out in camp.  We have the family Thanksgiving in the wall tent.  It is a 30 year family tradition.  You aint lying about what the hunting used to be 25 years ago.  I am sure there are plenty of better places to go but it is tough to break tradition.  It's really not so much about the hunting any more as much as it is just being there with the family.

Good luck to all that are taking part in the "madness".  Maybe I will see you somewhere between the top and the bottom but nowhere near a road.

Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

I wouldn't bother. Deer herd way down this year. BAD diseases. Go to the MANSON and hunt. MONSTER bucks running up there. Plus if your in the swakane the country is tough to hunt, then you only see a couple deer. Doesn't sound fun to me. GO UP NORTH

Well there has been ALOT of poaching up north here in the Omak, Tonasket, Loomis area going on. Someone shot a buck on our property that we have been waiting for the late season for. :bash: I would honestly head SOUTH. :dunno:

Do game wardens not patrol loomis area anymore? Soooo many game violations are happening here with the locals it isnt funny.
