You apply for.the MST in march and the draw is usu in may/june. There are 2 tags one for deer and elk. If drawn and you buy the tag you can hunt all three seasons, archery, muzzy and modern.

Check out pg 80 in the regs.  It explains the process, but it is done for this year.

Both have pretty high odds of being drawn.  Of the 2 years I put in, I drew one both times.  Most folks that put in can expect at the minimum every other year.  There is a second draw due to the fact that many decide not to buy it once they are drawn so those permits go back into the hat for another chance.

There hasnt been a second draw for MS for several years now. And recall that this year they increased the number of tags by 60% or more.

I stand corrected.  It has been severa years since I put in and was drawn on the second go round.

This year they had more deer tags than applicants (100% draw)

Elk can be tough.  I got drawn for both this year, but only bought the elk (took 7 years trying)
