powder
« on: November 17, 2012, 10:07:51 AM »
I use 777 powder. Does anyone know how long it lasts before it goes bad.  A can lasts me 2 seasons. I toss it out. I have loaded and used gun powder that is almost as old as I am.

Stored properly it should last years. Way longer then 2 years, I have powder that is 15 years old that I will use.

Here is a good article on storage and handling.

When I pass, do not let my wife sell the guns for what I told her they cost.

If you have kept the lid sealed tight it should be just fine.  I just finished a jug that I bought in 2007.  Right now I am using T7 powder that I bought in 2010.
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

Toss your can into the vacuum packer at the end of season, no moisture, no problem.

Right.....

 :yeah:

What they said....
I will add though, I have some 777 pellets that I DID NOT store  very well.
They must have gotten a little air moisture.
They still work great, but I have noticed that this year they shot about 2" lower at 50 yards than 2 years ago.

BUt....    :dunno: not sure if it was just the pellets or something else.
Just saying.
BUt if you store it properly....  then yeah..... what those guys said.    :chuckle:
Stan Marsh: "My Uncle Jimbo says we gotta get up there early. Right Uncle Jimbo?"

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."
