Best rig that I have ever owned and the best diesel ever built! (7.3 Powerstroke)  15 years and 180,000 miles and I still have people stopping me and wanting to buy the beast.

I don't think I've ever had a "Bad" hunting rig.  Willies, S-10, Blazer, CJ-5, Datsun, Toyota, Bronco, F-150, F-250, Ranger and now on my third Explorer (though this will be my last unless they go back to some sort of ground clearance).  But, I have to say, my favorites have always been the ones "Paid In Full".  Not sure I hate anything as much as car/truck payments.  Well, maybe PETA followers and wolf huggers :tung:

As I said my 85 Toy 4x4 is my hunting rig...nice and small to get around the woods and the wench is great...
However, if I want a real truck......I go back to my old stand by.....
My 1974 Dodge Power Wagon 3/4 Club Cab Long bed.  There is nothing that can stop it!
If you love something you will set it free, if it don't come home, hunt it down and kill it.

Voted yota, have a 92 sr5 extended cab with 260k on it. Runs like a champ, no issues. Everyday driver as well as hunting rig, also had a 96 chevy tahoe. That was a good rig but had trouble with the 4x4 engaging :bash:

I voted Chevy because its what my current truck is. It's been a great truck and I have no complaints. I might look to Toyota next though. I love the 4runner we got my wife.

Ford.  But depends on year and makes.  I love my 2001 f350 7.3.  Great truck.  BUT I had 81 Yota and built it from frame up, gotta say nothing tuffer!  Abused the crap out of it, often tried to break it so I could upgrade but I found alot of it just wont break!  I ran the guts out of 20r redlined hot turning 33 mudders locked in thick mud bog for 8 minutes on a 102 degree day and still didnt hurt it!  Put a big block in it and axles still didnt brake.
MAGA!  Again..

No way could I only select one. Here's a list of the one's I would own (or would own again) without hesitation...

1959-1977 Ford (Prefer 400 modified)
1994-1997 Ford Powerstroke (Straight axle only, TTB is crap)
1989-1993 Dodge Cummins
2001-Current Cevy/GMC Duramax
1966-1977 Bronco
1960-1983 Toyota FJ40
Any Toyota truck with a 22r (bonus points for straight axle)

There are no jeeps on this list for good reason. You guys can keep those heaps of crap.  :chuckle:

I would have to go with Toyota or Dodge. Both reliable and tough. But what I mainly use now is an '84 S-10 Blazer I paid $600 bucks for. It's a 5 spd so I don't have to worry about it grenading the tranny, I can sleep in it in a pinch, tight turning radius so I can flip a youey at the end of those narrow landings, parts super cheap and readily available. And if it gets dented, dirty, or scratched, who cares?  :dunno: Had my hunting buddy spill coffee in it a few weeks ago, and just hosed it right out! But if I found a nice 4 Runner or Ramcharger it would have to go :chuckle:

My '67 Dodge 4x4 usually stays at home. Why? Because the built 440 loves to eat gasoline too much. But it's by far the funnest to drive. Plus it can pull anything, and get to the woods faster and louder than anyone else  :yike: :chuckle: It's a total beast! Don't build them like they used to, that's for sure! If fuel cost wasn't a factor, it would see a lot more logging roads. I've owned many, many trucks over the years, some I would never take in the woods, others I still have fond memories of. Guess what matters is what works best for you!
That wasn't me! It was a black Camaro! It went that way!

I currently own a Toy but it certainly won't be my next car.
I learned the expensive way that 2006+ Tacomas are not trucks.
They are fashion accessories.
There are two kinds of 2006+ Tacomas, those that have new rear springs and those that need new rear springs.
Toyota better find their way soon, the koolaid is going to wear off.
