Any Other ThanksGiving Hunters?
« on: November 20, 2012, 08:40:05 AM »
I think the last time I was home for Thanks Giving I was a sophmore in HS, always seem to be on a hunting trip  :chuckle: Who else is going to be gone for turkey day?
Im getting ready to head out to the crazy mnts to finally try and fill my elk tag and do a little bit of fly fishing on the 'stone. Im kicking myself for waiting this long to get out, as the weather is suppose to be in the 50s through the end of the week. Oh well it should be fun. A few days in the mountains all by myself to recharge my soul.
Good luck to you late season guys in WA

Good luck to everyone.  Wish I was out there but have to go down to California to pick up my travel trailer and spend thanksgiving with the in-laws.  I will be back for the rest of late season to hopefully fill a tag.

Dad and I used to make a late archery trip every year over Thanksgiving. He stopped archery hunting a few years back and that kind of ended those. I still try to get out in the morning though close to home. Best time of year to find a big rutted up blacktail

This will be our 2nd year in a row for hosting Thanksgiving dinner at our hunting camp.  It's a treat for the whole family.  We roast our turkey in a roaster oven and then use our stove for the dressing and rolls.  It's somewhat of a challenge getting everything ready at once but when it's done it's so rewardiing and memorable, especially for the grandkids.

I hope to drag my lazy bones out for the morning, At minimum I get some good exercise.

Turkey, stuffing, & cranberry sandwiches heated on the dash or alcohol stove or tablet goop stuff.  My thanksgiving of choice that is somewhat of a tradition for me.  I just hope an elk does not screw it up while I am warming:)
