Hey my automatic clutch or tranny is going. How Much does this usually cost and where should I go?  It is stuggling to go in gear.

It's elementary, but I'd check the fluid level first.  Last auto transmission I replaced about 10 years ago was about $1,500.  You might find some deals on craigslist for that year of truck.

That many miles, it probably needs a rebuild.  I had a '91 Ranger, and loved it.  But it had the 2.9 V6 and 5 speed manual.  It got totalled in an accident.  Only had 183,000 miles.  Wish I had it back!  :'(

Westside Care Care on Nob Hill next to Oil Can Henry's 457-1688... the owner, Brad, is a straight shooter & guarantees his work.

If it runs good, Fix it!  i replaced my wrecked '91 Ranger with an '07 GMC Canyon--and I hate it!  I wish I had my Ranger back....  :'(

I will check. If I need a new tranny, I am selling it or parting it out.

I just flushed the fluids last week and put n new stuff.

That's why it's crappin out on you. When you flush a older transmission, it can excelerates the death of the trans. It's was going to go out on you anyway, but by replacing all the fluid and there by taking out some of the stuff that was adding friction and such to your bands/clutches and band aiding your trans along.

If that makes sense.

It should be the a4ld tranny, first and second shift are controlled by a vacuum modulator on the passenger side of the tranny, and 3-4 are computer controlled. I would almost best that the modulator is bad, look for the vacuum line come from the modulator to the intake and check for any fluid in the hose. Also there is two bands in the tranny, they require being torqued to a certain in/lbs and backed off I believe two turns.
