Oooh.... I've got 4 salmon this year. Had a double in a Comstock! I also caught one in a rat colony trap. :yike:

How have the Comstock worked for beaver as a swimthrough trap so far?
I am far from a beaver expert but in my experience the last couple of years they are deadly! The doors really slam with authority from out to in so if a beaver or otter are moving quickly I think it stuns them and slams them back into the trap. Checked 3 last night and had one in each trap, one being 50 lbs.

that is cool I have one...but I ordered some new traps from Kirk DeKalb and I should get them tomorrow.  I plan on giving them all a good tryout over the remainder of the season.  I have some ideas on where to set..up till now I have had two swim thrus out and have had no luck.  One was sprung off twice and I had to pull it so I could modify it.  The other is my Comstock and went to do my second check today but he rain yesterday put the creek out.  What kind of place is bestt?  Active beaver dams or just creeks with sign.?  Beaver dams are fairly scarce here now for some reason.  I thinks part predators and part year round trapping by timber co's

I like to set them upside down in the travel channels either around dams or misc. channels in the river. Caught a few otters last year in those. I've also caught guite a few either right above or right below the dam where they cross. What kind of DeKalb trap? I have one of his double door spring loaded traps but I don't do very well with it. I think it has too big of a profile.

Yes but 12 by 12 with bar doors and DeKalbs trigger is on the outside so it is safe from the animal.  Do you have much luck with cages for rats on dry land
