My 2012 Deer season is over. 4tags filled! woohoo

But what a season it was. I drew a multi deer tag, a Palouse late buck tag, and a Palouse B tag. I wanted to go for a decent buck this year and Thought that the late tag combined with the muzzy tag would help in that respect. I also love hunting does. I like to use different guns for them rather than just the same old deer rifle. This year I decided Id use my Winny 30/30 with open sights. October finally arrived and so it began.
I found this bedded doe at 85 yards, got her to stand and that tag was filled.
Then my youngest (the killer) got this buck at 135 yards with a Tikka T3 in 243. We found him bedded at 300 yards and closed to 135. We waited for himm to stand and tag number two was filled. This is Em's 5th deer and best buck to date.
Now fast forward to November. I saw a lot of bucks this year and really wanted a nice buck. Those who know me know Im not really a trophy guy. I like big deer as much as the next guy but I just dont care all that much about it. What I do like is hunting and eating them though. LoL. Anyways I decided to really be patient, if I didnt tag out with the late tag I still had my multi season muzzy tag and could always shoot another doe. I saw this guy running a hot doe. At 500 yards through the spotter I could tell he was out past the ears and he was a solid 5 point. Not super heavy but a good buck nonetheless. He finished with the doe and walked right to me. He was in a canyon 200 yards straight down and boon that tag was filled.
Now its my oldest daughters turn. She dropped out of hunting 7 long years ago but wanted back in. I decided she should consider a Muzzy tag since she could shoot a doe if no bucks were found and she thought that sounded good. We did see bucks but the rut was in full swing so they were just running like crazy after hot does. With her college and work schedule combined with the lousy weather forcast she decided to drop the hammer on a doe. She took this doe at 75 yards. That doe dropped like hit by lightening. So far to date my girls have shot 7 deer with 7 bullets. I couldnt be prouder.

Most of the boys that do come around are scared of me and I like it that way but trust me these girls can take care of themselves, especially the older one. LoL.

nice one, I noticed you and all your girls have bipods on your guns. Do you find them useful? I am thinking of using one. Do you take most of your shots off the ground then?

I started using them when I got serious into coyotes and I always use them even on the Muzzleloader. They can be a pain till you figure out how to use them but I definately think they are useful. I dont use them in the woods when Im bear hunting or elk hunting. I use a stump ot a tree or shooting sticks but definately in the wheatfields .
We have shot sitting and laying. depends on how tall the grass is. These bipods are adjustable to heights from prone to sitting. I love them
I used my pack on the 30/30 doe
