slow year?
« on: December 03, 2012, 09:00:18 PM »
Im running 8 stand locations, all in proven ground, not been seeing the bucks like in years past. Maybe the lack of snow hasnt pushed em down yet. Anyone else having a slower than normal late season archery whitetail year in NE WA? I moved some of my cams up in higher elevations, have to see what happens i guess. Makes me nervous having to scout mid season!

Have you tried doe in estrus scent at your cam locations?

in id the lack of snow really "slowed" the hunting evidently according to the locals, im not a whitetail hunter...but it sure seemed killer compared to hunting blacktails

The last couple weeks yes, and currently also, i have noticed rutting activity has died down some. I think its the mild weather,  it seems likeit made the rut a little longer, and the younger doe fawns seem to have come in estrus earlier, i hope the buck activity picks up at the food sources now that the rutting activity slacks off a bit.
Plus the deer have more natural food sources available with the lack of snow. Praying for snow!
