My sons first archery deer
« on: December 09, 2012, 08:53:54 AM »
Last day....Last hour of light kill.  He finally got his first bow kill. I had taken 2 shots at her earlier. Hit a tree with the first one. Went right under her belly with the second. She ran a little to the right. My son put the range finder on her. 43 yards....Sweet he thought. Wacked her a bit far back but got some lung. She piled up after only 20 yards. There was a real nice 2pt running with her that wouldn't leave her alone. He made a good shot and we had a pretty easy 200 yard drag. My son missed a couple longer shots the day before so we came back and did some practicing and he felt better. Didn't see many bucks. I had a great 49yard shot that morning on a nice buck, but i forgot to check for 3pt(the unit just switched from a 2pt or better a few years back) So i had to draw down and get the binos on him to check and he decided he had seen enough. Too bad cause i could see 2 points for sure. Oh well if had shot him.My son would have never got his deer. Good Karma i guess.
