Quality hunts

I will be making my way to a quality hunt this wednesday, and was curious if anyone has hunted Stubb, or any others that usually hold water? I have hunted most all of them and have my favorites. Just curious what others have seen with the changing weather and such.

  The only duck I got there was a widgeon, but it was there when I got there. Not a single duck came in. In fact I only seen about 8 ducks fly over about 10 minutes after shooting light. Could have had a hay-day on swans though  I have never hunted a quality hunt spot that ever produced more than 3 ducks. In fact, I usually only get 1

I have done well in the past in a few of them. But without field gear, I have to look for water. I dont like hunting the skagit DU site because it gets ridiculous sometimes and dont like wasting my time. Not seeing ducks is a diferent story, but the skybusters there just push them higher.

I have only hunted 4/5 sites and none of them were that good

stubbs has already been pounded. pretty much the case for all the other quality areas. they never get a rest and people just pound the snot out of them. the ducks already know to get up and out of the field before shooting time.

your best bet would be to hit the quality sites that aren't all comfy, cozy and lazy hunter friendly (like stubbs) - or maybe find one that is being overlooked.

Yeah your right. I just need to get up there to find the water. I dont have a blind or field gear tho. Finding one that is overlooked will be difficult.

I drive by many of the QH field frequently.  Sometimes I have seen multiple different rigs parked in them throughout the day and other times no rigs for days.  Some get pounded constantly and others can be good hunts.  Many of the spots used to be great shoots, but they get hunted too much unfortunately.  The good thing is that every wind storm, front or change in temp seems to bring in new birds, so windy days can make many of them hunt like top notch spots.  It’s all about the timing!

If I were hunting deer, elk, or any other big game animal, then I would be more concerned about posting something on the internet. However, birds move in and out, so asking whether or not anyone has seen water in a particular place isnt exactly posting anything new about a public area that is posted on multiple internet sites, including WDFW. The rest is up to me, and the work that I put in.
