Rats or Nuts
« on: December 17, 2012, 12:36:09 PM »
I thought I was filming a big ole fat Muskrat, but now I wonder if it was a Nutria.  I know they are in the area.   I guess I can post the pics and some of you guys can tell me.   THey are living in an old abandoned beaver lodge.   Are they similiar?

I was under the impression it was the biggest dang muskrat I have ever seen.   I got some shots and even video of the thing so I will get those up for you.  Seems like big round tail though.   Seems like it swam up out of the water a bit more than a rat too.

I've got muskrats up to 9 lbs. With that your average muskrat is only 2-3 lds. Nutria are usually over 15 lbs.

If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Kip,
You'd probably love to stick a #1 1/2 on that log as much as me.
