looking to do a little duck or goose hunting first time ?
« on: December 17, 2012, 09:00:27 PM »
Me and my buddy would like to get in to bird hunting but don't know were to start. I think i am going to look for a guide to go with the first time. I just don't have any idea were to start at. Anyone know of a good guide. I would like to go with a guide that will show me a few tips not just sit me down in the blind if you know what i mean. I hunt big game and would like to get out and have some more fun.
thanks for the help

Well, the first thing to learn, about bird hunting of any kind, is how to shoot.
I would first suggest that you and your buddy spend a lot of time at the trap range practiceing.

Course... if you guys are all ready good shots, you all ready have done the second thing I would suggest.
and that's ask around. Being on this site will help a lot with all the new guy things to learn.

Sorry, never used any guide service before.
I'm not paying somebody to take me out and not shoot anything, I can do that just fine on my own... lol.
So I have no tip for you there.

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

I have been to Eagle Lakes Ranch about 4 times in my life and they are really good.  They should still have a policy of getting you into limit hunting and if they don't they will take you out for free next time.  Remember the hunter just has to have the opportunity and if you miss your limit that's your fault. Also you have to hunt all day if slow and if you can't ever go again there is still no refund options as I remember.   Good luck and make sure you have a dead aim before you go or you could just be spending a lot of money to shoot air IMO.

Don't read my post if facts hurt your feeling.

I do both; on my own and with a guide. I'll send an IM with a local guide that will work with you; all you need to do is ask most guides will help you out.

For a fee most of the time.
