School me on ARs
« on: December 19, 2012, 12:10:40 PM »
I want an AR but can't spend the money right now.  So, I understand that I could buy a lower and then the rest later.  As I understand it, that should allow me to have an AR post-ban if a new ban occurs?

If that is correct, what do I need to get for a lower?

Pretty much "Yup". It would be "Pre-ban".

Unless an up-coming ban were to include receivers, .... ya never know.

You can buy a lower and get different uppers with different calibers.  Unless you go .308 than you need an AR-10 lower otherwise you can buy one lower and many different upper and exchange them as you like.

The lower should accept the standard magazine and will shoot anything that fits in the magazine----5.56, 6.8, .458, .50, custom round, etc.

WSU, where are you located? I know of a place that will be getting lowers in the next day or two.
