I saw an appaloosa like that on the Yakima River probably 20 years ago. I was hunting rabbits and I thought that a dog was chasing a doe, I was about to shoot (the dog) when I figured out it was a fawn.

I have only seen tow other Appaloosa's since, all does.

I have seen some call the piebald on here, we have always called the pinto's. Is one the right term?

Piebald is the correct name but to me it is a dessert without the whip cream. Appaloosa has always been kind of a colloquial name.

i believe piebald is the technical name for the color phase or whatever you want to call it....appy and pinto both kind of make sense.

I've seen several in the Big lake area!!! Never with horns damn it!!!! I think it has something to do with hair pigments!!!

I have only seen them in Blacktail/Mulies, do they show up in Whitetails too?

Dad and I were hunting up around North Bend one year and as we were glassing a hill side, the white rock we were looking at stood up. Totally albino.

A few years later we seen one like in the picture above in the same area. I wonder if it was related?

I saw one four point pinto deer up on chinook pass about four years back.

I saw a piebald doe up around Taneum two elk seasons ago. At first I thought it was someones goat that got loose somehow. I called the regions bio to see if they wanted to know about it. He didnt seem too interested and said there are some around and that they are legal to shoot. Kind of a cool thing to see.

They have a lot of piebalds here in this area. All are whitetails.
