Biggest of the year 2012
« on: December 25, 2012, 12:53:30 PM »
I'm certain Link's 243" monster takes it for mule deer but what is the highest gross score reported on the forum for whitetail and blacktail?  I'm primarily talking Washington but if you're a board regular that got one somewhere else we could start an out of state thread aswell.

The tripod buck is a wider buck but doesn't carry the mass of link's buck and may have less scorable points.  I believe it was Around 230.  I love spread;  if I saw them side by side and had to shoot fast I'd probably shoot the tripod buck. However, if I really had time to analyse the deer and contemplate the mass and character on Link's buck I'd probably talk myself into it.  Would certainly be a nice problem to have:-)

can someone post a side by side of link's and the tripod?  I don't recall seeing Link's Mulie. Sounds like a beast.

ok, now I remember seeing link's. it is an incredible buck! WA buck of a lifetime I'd say. I do love the width of the tripod buck though.

The Typical Archery buck was a pretty good buck too if you guys are thinking of contests versus weapons and typ versus non typ.

Has anyone got a 200" whitetail?  My dad used to live in Kansas and he got to see a few there but I think it's pretty rare in WA.  My taxidermist got one awhile back that he said was 211 gross so I know it's possible.  Or perhaps a 160+ blacktail?

I know it's Oregon but did anyone see the blacktail that Cameron Haynes stuck this year? MASHER!

Links looks like Desert Unit???
Tripod buck was taken in the Pogue above Concunully. My family owns the Shady Pines Resort in Conc. Check out their website and book a spot for next year. You can drive right out of the resort up into the Tri Pod burn area to hunt. My family has harvested some really nice bucks out of there over the years.
