New(est) toy.
« on: December 27, 2012, 01:51:10 PM »
Got to pick my present this year for Christmas, so took a little bit of time and looking around but found it last night.   Remington 788 in .22-250.

Pretty decent shape with a little wear from a gun rack on the barrel and a kinda funny looking/feeling finish on the stock (Possibly needs to be better sealed).  But figure I will likely camo it up for predator hunting anyway, so wasn't too concerned.

Best part was the conversation with my bride on the way home with it last night.  She was more than happy to tag along and tossed out the cash, no questions asked other than "Is it what you want?" and "Are you happy with it?"  Then came the big sort of question/statement: "So, you have all the guns you need now???"

WELLL, I carefully began to say to her, I was thinking about adding a shotgun and pistol to the list, and before I could go any further at what I figured would be a lame azz sounding attempt to NOT sound like an idiot, she responds with, well, I guess guys with guns are like girls with horses (she has two), you really do NEED different saddles for different riding styles and events, gear varies, so, I understand what you are saying!!!

JACKPOT!!!!!!!    :IBCOOL:   MERRY CHRISTMAS to me indeed!!!

Oh yeah, but it is a fair deal, so I see it as a WIN-WIN.   Happiest gal in the world when she comes home from a ride, so makes for a very pleasant and happy life.

I really like the 788's , I had one in 22-250 years ago. The thing shot out of this world well, I sold it to a friends brother and have been trying to buy it back since. It's shoots so well for him that he won't let it go.

Great purchase.
