I think I would have had a better shot with a shotgun muzzleloader. I was using a 45 caliber with rifled barrel. Had to make fast shots or the spread went everywere. I think I might try to pick up a 10 guage smokepole before turkey season.

I've heard that is a problem trying to shoot shot out of a rifled barrel, it spins the bb's out at the shot.  I wouldn't bother with a 10, you can always pack more bb's into your barrel.     I missed one a couple years ago with mine, misjudged the distance and squeezed off the modified barrel instead of the full.

Porkies can be very good eating. Ate a couple when in high school. The small one was very good fried. A very large one was very tough. A professor I had at Eastern said they have a very high parasite load, cook well.
