Trade SW elk huntin info for NE
« on: December 31, 2012, 09:05:19 AM »
OK,

Just to start out, I have thick skin, so I'm prepared for all the comments assuming I'm an idiot about boots on the ground, no elk in NE etc., However with that said...let me explain my thought process. I know a lot of new guys come on this site and ask for "honey hole" info even thought they are saying they are not. Well, first off I am not a new guy and secondly, I am asking for and am willing to trade info on my honey holes in exchange, thought am not going to do so publicly in the forum, we can do so either sitting down, on the phone or via private emails.

Here is what i bring to the table. I have a vast amount of knowledge hunting unit 572. My hunting party has archery elk hunted in this unit for the past 8 years. Results: 9 branched antler bulls, 4 cows, 2 bears and a few blacktails. All were taking during archery season.

A bit about my Intel. With the exception of 1 bull behind base camp, the rest were taken where you needed to pack out anywhere from 2-6 miles. Usually taken from a spike camp. If your looking to trade "road hunt" info, need not respond. Info I am willing to share is extremely hard hunting, however includes maps, waypoints and a ton of Intel.

Why? whats my motive? Its simple. I live in Eastern WA, so does one of my other partners. The other two live in Western WA. 572 is located in the middle for all of us. We in Eastern WA decided to switch to Western Archery tags, mainly due to the frustration of hunting opportunities with out getting drawn for tags. I personally hunted the blues for 13 years prior to the switch, and know this area also like the back of my hand....its my back yard! Got tired of calling in huge bulls, only to watch and hope one day i may get a tag. So, you may ask then why switch now? Again, its simple, we have enough ghost points built up that we could be in the running for the blues, but if not drawn run the risk of spikes and cows, and to be honest, that really does not excite allot of us. So were looking for a back up plan where we can still hunt branched antler bulls on the East side of the state.

So we are looking for a very specific kind of hunter(s) that may have a ton of knowledge regarding the NE corner and may like us, be intrested in switching areas for some new scenery.

Please let me know if this post appeals to you via messages.

Thanks
