the wdfw really has no idea what the populations are!  They did a 5yr dna project in unit 101 and 204 and from what i gathered they ended up scraping the study because it completely went killed all their theories!lol They;t also had wsu guy doing a study on the wedge and i don't think his study turned out any better, it basically opened more unanswered questions than closed!

All I know is if I had not of killed a cougar in my hunting career by now I would make it a point to get it done ! It is a matter of time before they put an end to cougar hunting in Washington ...it is definately coming  :yeah:  The more I read about Washington the sicker I become  :dunno: :sry:

The cougar season is a disaster in WA.  Too many young cats and females getting killed- probably a pile of young cats being orphaned and trophy cats dying of old age...   :bash:  Washington's predator managment is a problem.

AGREED!

Actually, if your goal is to keep lion populations on the lower end of the scale, the best thing you can do is kill the females and leave the old toms.  The toms will kill young lions that encroach into their territory.
