Sometimes less lubrications is better.... If you heavily grease the chamber in anticipation of sticking, you end up causing trouble. go light with lube...

Also, it may not even be related to the chamber. Check to see if any assembly screws or scope mounts screws protrude into the bolt channel, and are causing binding, they may have been switched in error during your reassembly... sometimes, you can get the wrong screw in the wrong place, and this may cause trouble.

Not trying to be a jerk but I'd sell it. 710's have had nothing but problems and several recalls. They were discontinued because of that. I'd swap it out for a savage if your still wanting and inexpensive rifle. IMO it's not worth the hassle considering this probably wont be the last problem you have with it. Be done with it and save yourself the heartache.

This is exactly the kind of crap that I hate to see happen, it is obviously broken and yet you want to pass it on to another unsuspecting hunter, maybe even a youth hunter that would be extremely happy to have a new gun and then find out it is a lemon, how devastating that would be.

I would say to do your best to fix it weather sending it back to Remington or through a gunsmith but please don't pass it on to someone else unless you fully disclose it's issues  :twocents:

Wow! I dont recall saying to go sell it to some unsuspecting teenager. I don't remember saying he shouldn't disclose the problem. All I said was get out of it. GEEZ!

I wasn't necessarily singling you out Gutpile, I was stating that is sucks that people have something that they know is severely messed up and just sell it to someone and not telling them it has issues and they figure it out on their own !!

Example, I just bought an item from someone that described it quite differently then it's actual condition and even though I have the means to fix it I was still upset that he would "get out of it" without letting me know exactly what I was getting.

Sorry if I made it seem as if you are a bad guy, it was not my intent. Just the idea in general is what I was trying to portray.

I don't recall seeing it in the prior post but does it cycle rounds OK before you shoot em?  The times I've seen sticky bolts it usually boiled down to 2 things:
1.  Too hot a load (not the case here more than likely cuz you're using factory.... have seen it w/ factory stuff one time though)
2.  Ejector problem.  Not familiar with the ejector on the 710 but I'm assuming it would be similiar to other Rems.  Anyway if it is an ejector issue, it will normally act up even when cycling unshot rounds.

Also, doesn't the 710 have a plastic clip magazine?  You may want to try and cycling it without that in it.  Or if it just a floor plate open it up so it isn't in play.  I seem to recall that those 710s had issue with the magazines.

I don't think it would be burring in the chamber since it was working OK previously.... that's usually something you'd see right away.  It doesn't sound like you've really shot it a ton so it seems less likely there's some major issue with the chamber itself  :dunno:

I tend to agree with Gutpile on this.  Life is too short to mess with a gun that doesn't perform.  You may end up spending 100 bucks to fix a 250$ gun.  May be better to just take your lumps and sell at a discount and move on.

Check your Action & Scope Base screws . See if one is dragging on the bolt.

bolt moves freely with and with out a bullet in it, its only when  it is shot it has the issues, a non shot bullet will slide in and out of the chamber freely, with adn with out mag in it. so i am calling them here in a bit.

It has already been said but I will say it too as I am 99% sure you have a slightly oversized chamber.  I have seen it quite a bit.  My trusty 30-.06 has the same problem with Remington and Winchester ammo among others but works flawlessly with Federal.  Years back I tried some El Dorado ammo and I didn't think I wouold get the spent case to eject.  What brand of ammo are you shooting?  A simple change can usually stop the jamming.

Brass is different by manufacturer.  Outside deminsions are the same but case thickness differs as does the way the brass expands when fired.  In my opinion the best brass from mainstream brands is Federal.  If not shooting Federal give it a try.

Try Ed Lapour in Bremerton.  He repaired one of my rifles for a me a few years back- did a good job for reasonable charge.  http://www.edlapourgunsmithing.com/

Nope.  I have one and it has a metal clip with a rubber bottom (most likley for comfort)

I helped a guy sight in a .270 710 last year and I couldn't lift the bolt without pinning the rifle down with my left hand and using all my weight, lift the bolt with my right hand.
This was with factory ammo.
I couldn't believe it.
POS.
Sorry if this isn't helpful, but it does seem to indicate a trend.
