Beretta 92A 9mm question
« on: January 12, 2013, 04:54:18 PM »
Anyone got one, or used one, and what are your thoughts?  I've searched on the site, but found nothing.  I'm interested in picking one up for plinking and such.  Pro's/con's?  I reload 9mm, so have the bullets.

I have a 92fs I think its a great gun it's just a bit clunky to have as a CC, I would gobble up any Hi cap mags you can get for it now though.  I know some guys on here aren't the biggest fans of the 92s, but I have carried them in the military as well as the civilian world they a very dependable fun gun to shoot in my opinion.

They are dependable, heavy, far from sexy and of course when it comes to the Military. Just remember the contract went to the lowest bidder. ;) I have only messed with ones I picked up used for around 350.00, shot the crap out of them and sold or traded them off, I have never CC'd one.

Is there a secret to getting them at $350?  I'm just looking ot shoot for fun, not cc.  Don't want to pay for new when I'll be happy with a good used.

My experience with a 92 comes from plinking and such.  I had one for awhile and used if for a plinker and it was quite accurate once I got the hang of the long double action trigger pull.  Mags used to be dirt cheap and plentiful and there were some 9mm carbines that used the same mags which made it an interesting idea.  I wouldn't feel bad about owning one.

Just keep your eyes open. I have never had one for 350.00, but have bought a few for 400.00. Sold my last one a while back for 450.00 with 4 mags to go with it. It was rough from riding under the previous owners seat, but shot great.

Man, I would have taken that in a heart beat.

I picked up my first one for $300 with 3 mags, a holster and 300 rounds of ammo. The second was in better condition and I got it for $325. I didn't want to like them but the 92 does have a nice feel to it. The make a great range gun or top drawer gun, but I wouldn't try to carry one every day. I didn't keep either one for long. Traded one and sold the other. I'm just not a fan of the 9mm cartridge.

If you poke around you can find them pretty cheap. You just need to move fast when you see them. Neither one of mine lasted more than 1 day when I decided to get rid of them.

Andrew
