wow Those beaver must have been enjoying the trapping ban all this time. Where they bitten up much?   Looks like the Comstock works well for you.  Have you been setting them so the doors close upward...do you think thats better for some reason.
Thanks Darryl

I can't say enough good about the Comstock. I set them doors down for the lower profile. (yes, upward) They pack real well for the size also. I've only had one beaver with bites this year but last year seemed real bad. Maybe it gets worse towards spring?

The trap line is always interesting. I had a couple more mink, a beaver and 6 muskrats. In my colony traps, of which I had out only 6, I had a mink, (Dark pic) 6 rats, and two large trout! Where my son is standing the cage is at his feet and that is the trap that had a rat and the trout in it. Weird!

If I want to find out if a crick or ditch holds rats I'll see if I can find a culvert and set a test trap on the down stream side. Put this cage in and had 2 so I put out more today.

I've caught 4 of those nice trout this year in small streams. Never had anything with them though. Last one I caught was about a week ago. Looked to be about 18" long.

I'll have to admit, dinner did cross my mind. But alas, I let them go. :'(

This trap is 16" wide 8" tall and 24" long. The door openings (4) are 8"w x 6" tall. There is a center divider on each end that is 8" x 8". These are my most productive colony traps. I'm thinking of making some a door set wider (24" instead of 16") for bigger culvert sets. I hate the fact I had this one at the house and not in the water! :chuckle:
