Salmon flavored salmon (cedar plank)
« on: August 03, 2007, 07:49:57 AM »
Here is an easy way to grill salmon, and the simple ingrediants don't drown out the taste of salmon.  I have made this at work and at home for people who say they don't like salmon........the end result is they are usually the ones you have to pull away from it because they like it so much.  Here it is:  take a piece of salmon (preferably a filet) and lay it on a cedar plank (untreated of course) skin side down, make sure you soak the plank for 30min to an hour in water, sprinkle a generous amount of Montreal Steak Seasoning over the entire filet, then sprinkle a generous amount of brown sugar over the filet, lay the plank on the grill directly over the flame and cook the first 10 minutes on high heat to get the plank smoking/burning, then lower your heat to medium for another 20-30 minutes or until it flakes.  By the time your done cooking the plank may be burning, this is fine, it will eventually burn itself out.
