There was wolves there 10 years ago. We spent a week fishing/exploring/hiking/riding and saw wolves right from the road south of big sky.

Ya this, lots of wolves. There are some serious wolf huggers in Bozeman and those packs are VERY healthy.

They get hunted just the same as the others :dunno:

No they don't.....one of the biggest ranches in Montana is in this area and they have a pro-wolf policy.
Ever seen a pack of 30? I have.

Whats the name of that ranch? Havent heard of it before.
As others have said, wolves and bears. Still a decent amount of elk. If I was coming from out of state I might look some where else.
As far as getting away from other people, if your on a trail good luck. Locals hunt there *sses off. I back packed in to an area twice and had people bust the same heard of elk I had been working both times. Couldnt believe it, I was 6 miles in and these guys were day hunters  :yike:

How about the Tendoy's around Lima?
"Aim small, miss small."
Genesis 27:3, "Now then, get your weapons, your quiver and bow, and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me."

Guessing he's referring to the Flying D.

Ya,
Do you know any other ranches that just let the wolves go about their business?
I can show you places on private land within 400 yards of 191 where there will be 300 elk at a time in September, but not see an elk for days in the hills.
I've spent a lot of time hunting this area and even a couple of evenings at the Buffalo Jump  ;)
