Last day, and good year
« on: January 27, 2013, 07:00:31 PM »
Went out for my last duck hunt yesterday...Was a very slow day for us, started out getting a good amount of birds coming in, Mostly Pintail and Mallards. had a few Pins decoy right at first light and was looking at a Fat pintail drake, since there was more birds I was just kinda watching to see if they would come in and then they just got up flew off and it was almost like buck fever just didn't shoot. should of done so too would of had my limit of pintail. Well after everybody got a few birds and it slowed down, I just was kinda relaxing for a while, hidden inside the brush and out of nowhere I get a circling lone Pin drake that just went right into my decoys. Took the shot and got him...finally I got my first pintail, for 3 years I have had bad luck and missed numerous times on pintail and finally I got me one on the last day. I had a goal to get one this year and it being the last day I had worried I would have to wait until next year. Wasn't much action but was way worth it and cant wait until next year

Well 7 days of duck hunting this year and didn't get skunked one day! 23 birds I got this year , got my first limit and I got 2 in 1 shot this year 4 times, on 4 of those 7 duck days!! which is way better then last year and I had hunted more days. My shots are getting better my timing is getting better and and the simple little mistakes I've made the past couple years just don't really happen anymore...I feel like a more complete duck hunter this year, although I still have alot to learn every duck day has just been a great learning experience this year.
