I have already written my elected officials, but I might just send a new round of emails just to reinforce my originals since I never got a response on them.

Don't stop or give up.  Write new emails on every new piece of legislation that affects us.  The organizations that are fighting for us are trying to make your involvement very easy.  Take advantage of it.
