Without looking it up, as far as I know the XD's are not chambered in .357.  The .357 is not typically chabered in semi auto's.  Unless you are talking about the .357 sig which is chambered in some semi's.   :twocents:

You mean the 357 sig I'm assuming? That's the semi auto round.  It is basically a 40 sw necked down to hold a 9mm bullet.  Ballistically I would say its better, but the cost of ammo is a lot higher than a 9mm.  I don't know f Springfield makes one, I would assume if not now then soon.  SW makes one in their m&p model and sig of course makes them.  I have a sig p250 I am thinking of ordering the x change kit for in 357 just to try it out.  Then I only have to buy one size bullet for 2 calibers.

Is it really? Now I'm even more intrigued.  How does it fair to a 40 sw?

Yep they make a .357 Sig. I think you can actually buy a replacement barrel and put it on the .40 and .45 frames.

I have a m&p in 357 sig.  Great round but not the easiest to find and not cheap.  I'm not sure about the xd but my m&p uses the the magazine as there 40 cal so if you got a 40 cal barrel kit you could interchange the parts and shoot two different rounds.

If you don't reload the ammo is expensive.  If you do reload the brass is expensive.

I see them for sale on the used market for a very, very long time it seems.  I would stick to the more common calibers especially since everything is so tight now.

:yeah:
This is my personal thoughts so take it for what it's worth.  Before I got set up to reload I had always thought that I was better off to stick with a cartridge that would always be readily available in any store that sold ammo.  I have always stuck with the common calibers.  Now that I'm set up to reload it's not such a big deal to buy other less common calibers.  :twocents:
