I'm curious to see how this poll comes out.  I know because of the different hunting methods the answers will vary, so you can post your hunting method if you like.  GO!

95% of my hunts are solo with, once in a while going out with the brother or my dad.  Regardless, we usually split up and meet back somewhere later.  It is always easier to hear game animals if you are by yourself.  2 sets of eyes do not make up for 2x the noise.

99% solo, my hunting partner and I just can't stand having people with us when we are in the woods. We start off in the same truck but that's about it, see you at dark!! He thinks I'm too slow, I think he's too fast, the noise two people make- it just sucks having someone with you. And I'm only talking when I'm hunting, if my daughter wants to go then it's totally different. I love having her with me, but having a 16 year old it's tough to get her out of the house anymore.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

Camp with a partner or two, but always hunt alone. Unless my Son is with me.

my wife hates that I hunt solo but I much prefer it especially since I'm a bowhunter. I don't like the idea that even if you're doing everything right, the animal could bust your buddy or vise versa. essentially it's twice the noise, sight, and scent hunting with a buddy. for early elk though I'm teaming up with a couple buddies, but even then we may split up. Haha.
Every thought of my being is in regards to being a high tech predator and I relish the role.

I hunt exclusively alone since I archery hunt.  Got tired of having hunting partners bag out on me, the unreliability an having them mess up stalks or hunting spots.

We have a large group camp of family and friends and then head off in our own directions.
If you are going to do it do right the first time.

Solo to me means going alone-and packing it out alone,if you have helpers-friends that is not solo.

We have a large group camp of family and friends and then head off in our own directions.
We use to do that.  About 12 of us in camp on average but it got to the point where by day 2 60% of the group didn't leave camp to hunt until 9 am and was always back by noon.  I got tired of guys getting drunk the night before and not feeling like hunting the next few days.  If I made the mistake of saying that I saw a big buck in an area the next day I would have 3 guys piling into my truck to "hunt" with me and try to find that buck.  One time I had a cousin shoot a buck that I had been tracking for 3 days as I had my crosshairs on it and only needed it to step forward 6" to make the shot.  He snuck in to where I was hunting and literally shot the buck right out from underneath me.  :bash:

My brother and I team up quite often, but we do like a lot of you guys get to an area and then split up. Even if we are hiking together I have this tendency to hike a couple extra miles than I planned...... But we work well because my brother likes to sit and watch areas and I like to sneak through the brush. And he know I will always come back and find him. I only stick with him and help him watch areas when I fill my tag.

I love hunting by myself. My son is the only exception. I hunt with him untill he gets his deer, and then I'm solo for the rest of season.

I hunt solo sometimes and hunt with a buddy other times. When hunting with a buddy, we usually switch off days on who gets first shot.

Hunting deer is 95% of the time done solo, Unless the kid is with me, archery elk is a 50/50 split. I agree with all posts above about the extra noise and scent another hunter causes  :chuckle: But its nice to have another there to call and reallllly nice when there is another there to help pack out quarters!!!

Seems like 90% of the time I kill my deer solo even though I spend most of my time hunting with others.

I generally hunt with a buddy or two but we very rarely actually hunt together. Most of the time we head out from the truck on our own and either meet back at the truck later in the day or work out a spot to meet up via radios when out and about. It is hard enough for one person to be quiet and sneak around the woods. The more guys together the more noise, more to be seen...  :twocents:

Alone = quiet. With a bow, that's a huge part of the game. I like going out with someone but hunting separately. That said, most of my hunts end up being totally alone anyway.

Alone, all year long except to take the kids out. Once they've got their tags filled I hit the woods alone and happy. Yes, I pack it out solo too.

I prefer solo hunting, but I also have my 15 yr old son I hunt with, and a couple of lifelong friends that I go with. When I go by myself it's alot easier to focus on hunting and not have to worry about what time you got to meet somebody back at the truck. I like the solitude, and I've killed some of my bigger deer when hunting alone.

Technically hunt solo but I go with a group, we hunt different parts of the area.

id call my hunting solo/group hunting. i have a very exclusive small circle of hunting partners (kinda have to these days, nothing seems sacred anymore). we will arrive at our spot, typically walk to the edge of what we consider the "grounds" and formulate a plan of who goes where and where/when to meet back up.

my dad likes to sit on a vantage point and wait and watch, my primary go to hunting buddy likes to cover ground and hes good at it hes 6' 2" and mountain goat once he gets moving theres no stopping and keeping up with him is  a workout, myself i like to slowly work areas sneak a little stop and watch and listen and repeat. another buddy of mine is the perfect person to send down a draw to be a pusher (yeah flame away, i know pushing is taboo) hes like a tractor just keeps moving and i dont think he could be sneaky to save his life he could make noise on a sandy beach.

all of us have our strong points and we try to utilize those strengths

I used to meet friends in camp and then we would go our separate ways.
Now that my hunting partners have passed away, I tried hunting solo. After I got my deer last year, I quickly realized I am too old to hunt by myself. So last year was my last deer hunt. I continue to hunt elk, but that is with a partner.

Both... Sometimes with a buddy.... Usually with my Dad... We mostly go our seperate ways though.... I sometimes I feel I have to hunt along side my Dad because his hearing is only getting worse and he can sometimes barely hear a herd of elk taking off...
