Bow Tuning near Covington
« on: February 01, 2013, 04:15:04 PM »
Hello Everyone...

I'm curious to hear where people take their bows to get tuned in King or Pierce County, Washington.  I have been using Wholesale Sports in Des Moines and Sportco in Fife which seems hit and miss on quality of work.

Is their a more reliable Bow Mechanic around?  I live in the Covington Area and don't mind traveling.  I don't need my bow worked on too often anyway.

Thanks for any information,

Mark

Doug at gnw archery in puyallup or rock creek archery in enumclaw are your closest options. Or just do it your self.

Take it to Ryan Black.  I just PM'ed you his contact info.  You'll get one-on-one attention and won't feel like the work is being rushed because there are other customers in line or the shop just doesn't want to go the extra mile to get it done right.

Does Ryan have  a shop now? He has changed my strings and has done a great job. never have to adjust anything when the bow comes back.

I believe Ryan is doing it out of his home.

Thanks to everyone for what looks to be 3 great options...

I'll check them all out and wait for Ryan's reply,

Mark

Yeah, Ryan's operating out of his house in Tacoma, semi-near Tacoma Sportsmen's Club (where he's the co-chair for archery).  He's getting things setup for business communication (business email, phone number, etc.).  PM me if you want his personal contact info for archery related stuff.  I don't want to broadcast that info on an open forum.

Great Northwest Archery in Puyallup. Doug Hyder is the owner - as mentioned above. Doug knows his stuff and is honest and reasonable. 253-841-0991

And Ryan will teach you how to do it yourself. I have learned a lot from him over the years.

I would go to Ryan aswell & never to GNW archery as I have never heard a good word about him.  If you cant get Ryan go to Rock Creek or Sportsman warehouse in puyallup.

Are you speaking of personal experience or supposition?  I go to Doug quite often and have never had a problem :dunno:

Doug at GNW knows his stuff and does quality work, I wouldn't hesitate to use him. The same goes for Ryan.

Well, after 3 bows and 6 years working with him I have no complaints.  I'm pretty sure there are a few others that feel the same way.  Sorry you had a bad experience, but I'll back my decision and say Doug treats people well.
