Ban on shrimp fishing enacted for inland waters??
« on: February 07, 2013, 03:56:09 PM »

Talk about a shotty piece of journalism! This is the most skewed version of the actual events I have seen yet. The truth is that the commercial fishing advisors conceded the mentioned areas with their submitted proposal and long before the final vote. Funny how this story fails to mention that because of this decision 1000's of pounds of shrimp will make it to the dinner tables and freezers of hundreds of recreational fisherman rather than lining the pocket of one commercial fisherman. Thanks to a dedicated group of guys on the rec. advisory committee we got a sensible decision that serves the interest of sportsman rather than the commercial industry.

Yea, reading the article makes me cry a river for those poor people that will not be able to buy his shrimp at the dock anymore...   :chuckle:   But do not worry the natives will harvest more than their fair share for them to buy or look at rotting somewhere... >:(

The comments under the article are much better than the article itself!  :chuckle:

Did anybody else from this site email the journalist?

I did and I know several others who did as well. The response was to the effect of because she received so many similar complaints via email that she was convinced they were from a group of friends.  :chuckle:

I would encourage guys to shoot her an email and let her hear it. Posting a comment under the story might be good as well.

The Herald took so much heat on this from sportsman that they pulled the article from their website.
