460 S&W and pics
« on: February 11, 2013, 09:48:31 PM »
Okay did a little research and finally bought the hand cannon. Got some ammo and can't wait to shoot it. Ordered dies, some lead, and brass. Can't wait to reload.

Does anyone have experience reloading? What is your favorite recipe? Powder?

Have you shot 454 casul through it? How about  45 long colt?

This is for you iceman :chuckle: my beauty with a few 200 grain hornady ftx's@ 2200fps.

If we were supposed to be vegetarian God would have made broccoli more fun to shoot!
"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?

Buy a lot of H110 and Lil'Gun powder, and some 300gr and heavier bullets.

Instead of shooting 454 Casul or 45 Colt ammo in there, try running 460 brass and just loading them with Trail Boss powder. Your cases will last forever using Trail Boss and your loads will duplicate lite 45 Colt ammo.

8 1/2" barrel with a compensator. It's recoil is manageable.

I got one on order but went with 14 inch barrel. Should be here tomorrow .How do you like yours and are you going to throw a scope on it?  I am thinking about putting optics on it but not sure what to go with.

That is a fine looking pistol.  Congrat to you!

I sometimes wish I had bought the 460 instead of the 500.  With the 460, it gives you more options to shoot a little less expensive ammo than does the 500.

These hand cannons sure are a lot of fun to shoot.  I've never shot anything but "stuff" with mine but every time I pull the trigger I think how bad it would hurt and how big a mess it would make if I ever shot and animal with it.

Enjoy your new cannon and shoot it as often as you can.  They sure are a lot of fun to shoot that's for sure!!!  Congrats again and enjoy.

I just shot one. 14 inch barrel with comp. No recoil but it just about 8 or some inches. A total pleasure to shoot.
