When i was in high school i met Glen Berry @ the portland sportsman show, i think i was a junior and just getting into bow hunting. I was looking at his bugles because i was saving my money to buy one. He overheard me talking to my best friend and hunting partner about not being able to afford to buy it yet. My friend said he would loan me the money to buy it because we wouldn't find it for that price again. Well Glen handed me the bugle and told me to go away. I tried to refuse, but Glen was having none of it. He said good luck with it.
I did send him the money for it as i didn't feel right taking it for nothing.

Glen is a stand up guy. Never was successful with it as i went into the military the next summer. But i still have it.

The best way to even it out is to buy calls from the ones Dale mentioned ...they all make quality calls ...Glenn Berry has been around as long as I have ... Met him many years ago when we were doing the turkey thing ...I can also tell you that Jason Phelps is making some dang nice calls ...I  have a couple and they play some true music  :chuckle:  I do need to buy some from BearManiac and I best do that before April .....  ;) 8)

One thing I notice, is that some are easier for me to use than others.  Buy a few and see if you can get the sound you need.  The sleazy cow call used to be my favorite before I started using the in mouth calls.  I've had a few failures where a piece of sand got between the reeds and messed up the sound.  Needles to say, I have about 6 of them, was afraid they would quit making them

In my opinion Glen Berry's production calls have a very high quality from a manufacturing perspective.  I have said this many times.  Go to a bow shop and pull ten of the same diaphrams.  Look to see their anchor points and see if they are the same.  It is difficult to see if the tension as you need a meter to see that.  But from what I have seen Glen has more consistent quality calls then what is massed produced.

I have not seen or tired Phelps calls so I have no opinion there.

ElkNut's CD's for learning to call and the play book is second to none.  I would recommend that calling CD and the play book to anyone wanting to learn how to call and hunt elk.  I have not seen or used any of his calls as well.
