West Side Coyotes???

Hey all.  New to the site and pretty new to hunting in general.  The Navy started me shooting rifles and now I need something to shoot at.  From what I've been reading the thing to do for yotes is go east, but that doesn't fit my schedule too often.  If anybody does varmint hunting west of the mountains and north of Seattle I'd appreciate a shove in the right direction.  Thanks.

I am also new to hunting coyotes but I am in SW Washington.  There are soo many coyote down here its crazy.  I bought a few calls and an instructional DVD and watched Youtube videos.  Not much open area here other than clearcuts so Im sure it is a different type of hunting from the east side.  I did have a few answers to my calling but didnt get any to come in.  I am interested to hear any advice on hunting the west side coyotes also.

This goes for eastern or western wa...but more so for western i believe..

make it easy for the yotes to get to you. THere have been a few times, I have had the yotes answer, but couldnt get them to come in...for the most part, I think it was due to the terrain...(marshes, sloughes, etc) I think the terrain made it too much of a pain in the arse to get to me.

I have very litttle luck trying to call them out of timber into clearcuts. the edges of cuts or roads is always brushy cause that is where the light gets through. sometimes if you go through the brush for a few yards it clears up a bit.  electronic call is a real help. Many stands you cant see more than 50 yards or so, thats fine, you might think about a shotgun.
I like to call around agriculture land say within a mile, a coyote will travel a mile in minutes. I try to call so there is a flat or at least not steep approach. WATCH THE WIND   sometimes you can use old logging roads to your advantage.

Hmmm..... be quiet. No door slamming or loud talking. Watch the wind. Cover your hands and face. Sit still, When you think nothing is coming in, give it 10 more minutes. Dont educate those coyotes. If you hit up an area give it a rest before returning. Coyotes are smarter than most people think. The way I learned is just by trial and error. If you do call one in, be prepared to be hooked on chasing them coyotes.
There are lots of predator hunting dvds that you can watch to get an idea of what to do.

I'm stationed in Everett.  Not too sure how far I'm willing to drive to shoot coyotes.  It probably has more to do with how far will my wife let me go.   

Really, the Navy takes me away too much to go spend a lot of time away from home.  I'm hoping to be able to keep it within a couple hours.

I have seen two and missed one outside of Index up HWY2.  Not far from you.  I work here in Everett and leave from here and go hit them.

Loads of coyotes up towards Concrete and Acme. some of the farmers want them gone.

Dekuma, I went to Acme, just started asking folks. Got on one place and he introduced me to his neighbor. They only have about 100 acres between them. They told me many of the neighbors had lost pets and stock.
Go up there and knock on some doors, dress neat and clean carry some cards with your name and address. I bet you can get on some property. The place I got on the owner is trying to learn calling.

also its about a 3 hour drive to elensberg(i think that is the town) and there is a ton there.  but its not really a one day trip.
