Evening hunt
« on: September 27, 2008, 07:47:43 PM »
My 3 1/2 year old daughter and I went out and sat for about an hour and 15 minutes tonight on the edge of an alfalfa field.  It was her first hunt, and she did great!  We actually had a doe come by at 32 yards and a small three point came in behind us at 38 yards!  The doe smelled us before she was in a place I could take a shot, and the buck heard and saw a bit of movement....not by me.  Fun

Awesome!!!!  That is what it is all about man!  I remember my girls hiding in a pile of leaves and branches blowing on rabbit calls as I shot the coyotes they called in.  Just wait until she gets her first critter, you wont be able to slap the smile off of your face.

I always enjoy taking my kids out hunting with me. I have taken them all out except the baby who is two but my third girl Anya is all ready to go out and get a deer, she spent over an hour with her little bow shooting on Sunday. I have the crossbow ready for her to shoot, got a bi-pod on it so she doesn't have to stand and hold it. I plan on taking her behind the house down in the bottom and try to get a doe there.

I have two daughters, the oldest will be 3 in January. She spots deer better than most people. She will tell you if its a "big buck" or just a "little guy" or a 'mama deer" But the best part is when you ask her what do we do with deer she says " we shoot them, then we eat them" She is going to go rifle hunting this year with her mom and me. She is REALLY excited.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Thats just cool! I can't wait, mine is 6 1/2 months old. She likes elk cause she keeps crawling over to my 370 bull and chewing on those eyeguards  :chuckle:

EXCELLENT!!  What a cutie!!

One night at dinner (elk stroganoff - my kid's favorite) my four-year-old daughter said, "Dad, I like to look at animals but they are more fun to eat."
I leaned over and gave here a super BIG daddy hug.  Wish I had that on video, it was classic.  Mouth chock full, belly sticking out of her shirt, and being quite dramatic.

That is awesome Jake!

I didn't hunt deer a single night without my daughter or son with me this early season.  I have late season to get serious, but would rather sit with them!
