You guys crack me up.

I have no real weight limts. I would like to stay around 12 pounds or less. Most all of my magnums come in around 10+ pounds, so weight is not really a problem for me.

I figured my next would be a 338 edge but I got the 30 cal can instead :chuckle:

Going to cruch some numbers and maybe look more at the 300wsm for a short action as well. I am not looking for a extreme range gun as I already own several for that type of shooting. I am just wanting a gun I can pack and trust with enough ke to take large game at 600 yards or less. So I have put thought into 300wm 300wsm and 300 rum. I am not set in stone but have leaned towards the 300 rum.

The 300 WSM and the right Accubond will do exactly what your looking for. With a lot less powered, recoil and muzzle blast. Of course on a shorter action, I'm not into efficiency though. I don't mind burning powder, long actions or packing 18 lbs rifles. The 300 RUM would be my choice out of the chamberings mentioned, I would rather have more than enough rifle for any situation. I would also opt for a fluted seven contour or so with a 11 twist for the 30 cal. I prefer a little more speed than I do bullet weight at mid ranges for hunting or the accasional afternoon destroying Rockchucks.

Not every 30 cal or 338 needs to be slinging the heaviest VLD bullet you can find, the Accubonds have you covered for what your going to use it for.👍

You will be extremely happy with the Defiance receivers.  They build our actions for us with our private labeling.  They are extremely smooth and built solid.

Not a Defiance, just showing how much fun you'll have with your build! .338 edge, Thunderbeast 338BA. 300 matchking at 2950fps.

That is a dandy! I plan on running the new Lr accubonds threw this rifle as long it shoots them well. They only need 1300fps to maintain performance compared to 1800 with the standard accubonds. So as long as I can run them at 2900fps I will be happy. Not sure how much the can will knock off. I have not played with suppressors and ballistics before.

With either the 300 wsm or the 300 rum I don't think I will have any problems getting the to 2900fps. They have the 190's and 210's. Probably run the 190's in the 300wsm and 210 if I have more powder to burn in the 300 rum.

Well this is what it looks like for numbers by what I can come up with. Not sure what a can will do but I think I can stay with the 2900fps in both rifles.

300 RUM 210g Accubond LR 2900 fps muzzle
2644fps @ 200y 0  KE 3260
2407fps @ 400y -20 KE 2700
2180fps @ 600y -63 KE 2220
1971fps @ 800y -136 KE 1800
1775FPS @ 1K -245 KE 1460

300 WSM 190g Accubond LR 2900 muzzle
2600fps @ 200y 0 KE 2870
2340fps @ 400y -20 KE 2310
2090fps @ 600Y -66 KE 1843
1860fps @ 800y -145 KE 1453
1640fps @ 1k -262 KE 1140

The new LR stays at minimum bullet performance at 1300fps compared to 1800fps with the standard. So in all theory even thought I am looking at this gun being more of a 500-600 yard gun. It will still stay my minimum 1k KE to 100 yards and always be on the + side of minimum bullet preformace.

Out to 600 yards they are very close about 100 fps and 250lbs of KE differance. So in the wsm I would be getting a short action rifle. Little less powder and less recoil. If I wanted to do this rifle with it being good to 1k I could go to the 300 rum and make it so that I can without any problems get it to be a 1k gun.

I am still not sure what route to go.
