If I were you I would call their past hunters of the new outfitter and if you don't like what you hear see what you can do about getting your money back.
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

I think I would be asking for a refund and doing my own booking, not relying on some outfitter setting up his friend. I've heard too many horror stories and very few positive stories about situations like this. :twocents:

I can't remember who it was, maybe Goldtip, that went with these guys http://www.wildkakwaoutfit.com/moose_98.htm  and had nothing but good things to say. The prices were very good as well, although they are in Alberta and not BC, looks to be worth the extra drive.

Thanks for the info all! I will be calling tomorrow to get my money back. Then I will need to decide what to do... crappy deal is that most anything will be at least a year or 2 out now... wish he woulda canceled right after last season... maybe gave me time to find another hunt for this fall.

Give those other guys a call and tell them what happened, maybe they can work you in.

Check out A/Z Outfitters in Windemere BC, Bill and Brent Dubois.  They are first cabin all the way.  They've been in that territory since the 1960's and are on the second or third generation.  I've been on multiple trips into their area, lots of game, nobody else goes in there.
And I think God must be a cowboy at heart
He made wide open spaces from the start
He made grass and trees and mountains and a horse to be a friend
And trails to lead ol' cowboys home again

This is the guy I went with last year. You can see pictures of my moose under "Canada moose" in this forum. This guy works hard and has a track record of big moose.

I can second the last post, great track record of big moose and they do work hard. I passed up a near 50" bull looking for a bigger bull. Tough to call the weather and the rut, plus it's a little bit of a tour to get there.

Check out Jim Lancaster at copper river outfitters.  I've hunted with him the last two years and I'm booked for this year too.  Great outfit and service.  These guys are a lot of fun to hunt with.  They've got some big moose, bears, goats, you name it they have it.  Highly recommend.
