Here I put my cuddeback on my spot, about two weeks later I noticed a calf was killed by what??? Any suggest....
My cuddeback was 15 ft away and I review whole pictures and there is NOTHING evidence of how attack him. I was starting to wonder if bear would attack or Lion or Yote? It was totally thick ground area hard to find track of what animal that attacked calf. But I found a lion track with in about 300 yds away but Bear track also so it was a TOUGH question!

Help would be great! No kidding why it never across my camera

Dang... The picture was take on right side from my cuddeback tree.

I wont be surprised if it was lion.

Could Bear attack calf?

How old is the picture?
Looks like there is a little snow in the background of the first picture?

Also, look at the grass...that's a HUGE area that has been flattened out.
If it was a predator that matted down all that grass, it would have been an indication that is was there for a while...and more damage to the calf would be evident.

It's hard to tell the size of the calf given the angle, but I'm thinking momma cow had a still-birth?

thats a log your seeing that looks like snow but i agree i dont think it was attacked, still birth has my vote

If it was a lion there will be kill marks in its neck or its face were it clamped over its nose and mouth.

It is awful late for them to still be calving. It usually happens in mid may to june

Last August 2nd week, I set my camera on tree, Calf wasnt there then two weeks after around sept first, calf was killed.

I will introduce myself in a later post, but will offer up an opnion on this picture. Some ranchers calve in the fall, though it is unual that they calve on the mountain. This looks to me like this calf was dead when it was born, all of the matted down grass looks like the mother cow was rollin around trying to get that dead calf out, however the placenta shoulda been close, unless the mom drug it off with her...

I agree with Teamroper, as a former ranch boy this looks like a still born bovine not an elk calf.

Looks like an Angus too.

Yes probablly ur right. I walked closer to calf and the gut was almost empty. I open it with a stick and it was no lung, liver all gone. stomach hide was all teared open, Possible yote, or Bear ate them after they died after birth.
Who knows...
