bachelor party in June
« on: March 13, 2013, 06:45:53 PM »
I was thinking about getting a guided trip for my bachelor party in June.  I wanted to keep it within about two hours driving distance so people did not have to stay the night if they didn't want to.   suggestions on who I should contact for a guide,  what is the best fishing then? I was thinking steelhead since the rivers will have just opened. But maybe springers or even sturgeon which i know nothing about. I live in Lynnwood
If it looks fishy, fish it. If it doesn't look fishy, fish it anyway!

How many people?
If its only a few (like 3-4) a sled trip for steelhead on the Cowlitz could be fun. Some guides could maybe work out a multi boat deal if its more people. Might be able to do a similar trip on the Sky.
Kinda late for springers unless there are options upriver on the Columbia? That's going to be way more than 2 hours.
If its a bunch of people, I'd do a Westport charter.

Summer kings, sockeye and steelhead on the lower Columbia or a Sky trip for steelhead/kings. The Columbia season doesn't generally start until mid  june but its a fun fishery.

We did a guided sturgeon trip on the Willamette last March for a bachelor party. It was fairly cheap, the fishing was good and it was Close to Portland. So needless to say when we were headed back and she found out what he was doing it almost caused a divorce before the marriage, but that's what happens when you don't tell the truth I guess. The whole trip was a blast until that point though and the March Madness tourney was also going on then.

Not sure if that's the kinda thing you're looking for, but I figure it's always nice to have some night life around after the fishing. Besides it's your last HOORAH, so you might as well go out fightin.

Westport salmon openings should come out after the North of Falcon meeting tomorrow 3/15.

Should at least be bottom fish trips.

Early June I think I would opt for the kings and steelhead on the Sky. Late june I would take a look at the Cowlitz for steelhead. Most guides will work with others to meet your needs if you require more than one boat.

Not sure I'd waste a big day like that fishing for springers on the sky.

So there wont be any of your buds going to the Dominican Republic I take it as you could have one hell of a time there.

Steelhead prime time.
Rottenchum, John Thomas 425-280-5494 for the sky.
Mystical Legends, Phil Stevens 206-940-0052 for the cowlitz

Either one will work hard to put you on fish and have a good time doing it.

Westport should be open for salmon the 2nd half of the month or so.  I'd book a boat and go there.  There will be more fish action than the rivers, you'll all be together on one boat, and you've got a casino nearby to round out a fun weekend.
