« on: March 16, 2013, 10:48:53 AM »
Has anyone ever had success in the rain? Im debating on heading out for a few hours, but its raining and Im not sure how coyote hunting in the rain is. Obviously i'll never know if I dont try, but I am just curious what your opinions are

I haven't.  But that might be cause I try to avoid it.  Spent a whole day calling in a good area and nada...  Went back 3 weeks ago and did well.

I've never had any luck in the rain. But I'm on the dry side so I'm sure that might be different on the wet side.

Hunting them in the rain isn't as productive but they do hunt in low sprinkles and light rain. I just don't like my gear and call in the rain.

called in two last week in the rain. But hey it's better to be in the woods than at work... :chuckle:

What kind of call are you using? I've been using a cotton tail squealer but I've had no luck these past couple trips!

I never called in the rain for coyotes, but I was hunting in Sultan in the misty rain for deer. I missed my deer but ran across a cougar on the road I was walking down. He jumped up the bank 50 yards way. I didn't think he would be there anymore. So I didn't knock up the arrow. I peaked over the bank and there he was. Ass up at me 15 ft away  :yike: I didn't even think he know I was there. I knocked up a arrow, but I was shacking so bad I couldn't get my trigger on the string. I draw with fingers and aimed. I let back down. Took a deep breath. Then I got the trigger on the string. I started to draw. Sh-t The cat moved to the left. So I stepped to the right and slipped on the wet log. BYEBYE CAT he was gone.  :bash: So I think they predators do move in the rain. Sorry for the long story.
