This is sort of a public service message for people who coach their kids on archery shooting.

Some of you know that I've been shooting with a young neighbor now for about 1.5 years, every single Wednesday. For the last month, his shooting has been very inconsistent. I've been checking his form and he's been dropping his hands - no follow through. Sometimes he stands with his feet together. I have also wondered if he's using his peep every time. I never considered a problem with his equipment.

He's been tearing off a lot of fletchings lately, like two or three a week. It didn't occur to me until yesterday that his shots aren't close enough together to have this happening. I asked the Archery World owner, Joe to take a look. Apparently, Braxton dropped his bow on the whisker bisquit about a month ago and bent the insert. It's a barely perceptible deformation. We changed out the bisquit and his groups came together immediately.

We all know when we do something to our own bows, but when our kid drops theirs, they're not likely to run up to us and point it out. So, if your kid is having consistency problems and you've checked his/her form with little positive result, they may have an equipment issue. Just an FYI for my archery mentor buddies out there.

I'm amazed that Archery World could actually help. I will never let them touch my bow again. My personal experiences have been nothing but bad at that shop.

I've been working with them since the last owners and have never had anything but good work done by them. I had a 7 or 8 year old Reflex bow de-lam 3 weeks before the opener. Joe had it overnighted to Hoyt and I had a new bow in about 3 days with plenty of time to set it up and get used to it before the season. Joe has been helping to defray a little of the cost for my young mentor's shoot cards and never hesitates to put down what he's working on to help us out.

I think you might consider giving them another chance. Everyone has a bad day.

Ya know.... Your probably right, and they are much closer to home. It just seemed like I had much better service with the original owners I knew which was Max and Jeanie

I really liked the previous owners and I must admit that in the beginning, Joe took a little warming up to. But now that I know him and his work, and his dedication to helping the community (really huge for me), that's where I go for all things archery. I may spend a few more dollars once in a while, but you do get what you pay for.

Back on topic.
