My 460 has arrived
« on: March 28, 2013, 03:06:45 PM »
Got the call yesterday saying my new gun arrived. Went and picked it up and am very pleased with it. Ammo should show up tomorrow and plan to break it in on Saturday. Been thinking hard about optics for it. Don't know what to go with. Hoping you will have some input that will help. This is a hunting gun that can do about anything except a quick draw comp. 14" barrel and an over all length of 22" make that tough. Not to mention the 5.5 pounds it weighs with nothing on it.

Holy crap. I saw your post the other day saying you were waiting on yours with a 14" barrel. I thought to myself that I couldn't wait to see whatever that would be. Not the look I was expecting. That thing is crazy. Can't wait to see the range report.

I cant wait to give the range report. S&W claims that this gun with a 200 yard zero will be in the kill zone from the muzzle to 250 with no hold over. Hope they are right.

Be careful with that thing--a friend of mine got a 460 revolver, and shot it at the range.  The next day he went to the doctor because his arm hurt something awful.  He told the doc what he had done, and the doctor told him if he wanted to keep the use of his arm, to get rid of the gun.  I was standing 8 feet away when he fired it, and the concussion was fierce.  The shooting range was under a metal-roofed canopy, and every shot blew dirt and bird poop out of the rafters above us!  :chuckle:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I've built a T/C Encore with a 16" .460 S/W barrel and had excellent results. My barrel was made by MGM in St. George, UT and has a built in muzzle break. VERY loud and a serious kick, but accurate and great knock-down. Using the factory ammo and a 1.4x4 Pentax scope. I'll look for a picture of it, if anyone's interested??
