trapping rules

I was wondering if anyone knows if ditches, bridges, culverts and the sort are open to trap along state and county roads.

Just as long as it is not private property it is legal.

I'm talking more about between say a county road and a farmers fence. The ditch in the middle, is it open? Or a concrete bridge, underneath it??

I think this came up before. The actual right-of-way is public land so it's open. That being said there are other considerations. Where will you park? It is not legal to park along a freeway except in case of emergency so that basically closes that. Also if you are adjacent to posted property you are cruiseing for trouble if you try to trap the ditch and where will you park? If you pull off the road make sure you are not on private property.
Practice a little common sense. Don't trap the ditch if there is someone living along there or you are going to get into a confrontation and that doesn't help anyone. Nothing wrong with asking permission and you might be surprised especially in farmland how receptive people are.
Not posted and not in someones yard I'd say to knock yourself out but beware, you may be asking for stolen traps. hard to be secretive when you are packing a cage trap down the shoulder of the road.

So you're saying county roads are 60 feet and state highways are 100? That may be true for some, but certainly not for all. I sure wouldn't count on that as being a universal rule to go by. The width of a county or state right of way can be anything. And those widths can vary on the same road as well. If it's 60 feet wide at one point, a mile down the road it might only be 40.

The right of way may not be enforced, but they are there. I drive through Douglas county daily and the wheat fields are right up to the edge of the maintained roadbed(gravel edge) on highway 17, Terrain permitting, but that right of way is still there. You should see some of the county roads here, 2 tracks in the dirt, named and road signs, but the right of way is still there. The visible right of way may not be the legal roight of way. Put a fence up and see how far you have to be from the center of the road.
