Bass seem to be the theme of the week
« on: March 30, 2013, 07:36:29 PM »
6 pounder on the button and an epic battle that took way longer than it should have. But, with the help of my wife, we got this beauty into the boat, snapped a few pictures. Drove it in my livewell to a friend's house on the lake who did not really believe that there were fish like this in the lake. Showed it to him and his wife and then tried to film the release of it but my wife has bad hands and dropped the fish into the water before we could make a good video.

But, we do have a video, I have not seen it yet. If I think it is worth it I will put it on youtube and post the link.

Double willow, both silver with a white and blue skirt. It may be called a blue shad. If not, very similar.

Thanks!.. I'm a bass newbie trying to hit it hard this year; I was 0-3 in March :bash: But, I will be keeping a log of what didn't work, and will be looking to you veterans to know what did work...  :dunno:

Don't worry about going 0'fer in March. March is a horrible month for fishing, imo, except for the fact that some big ol pigs will start moving around. Just gotta hope that you get lucky and pick one off here and there.

And I am not sure if I am a veteran, lol. This is like season 5 for me. I fish hard and often, but I most certainly suck most of the time at bass fishing. Persistence is my key:)

Think I am going to drain the lower unit this weekend and put new in and replace the impeler.  Install a GPS bracket and get the boat ready for hitting the water.  That is a toad btw.

Sweet bass! Went out on Sunday lake on Sunday and was totally skunked. I know there has to be bass in that lake still, but from the completely dead action from that morning it makes a person wonder. I've read a few reports from hard core bassers fishing other bass lakes in the area and they're having a slow time as well. I need to put that day behind me and hit a different lake in a few weeks when it warms up a little more.

:yike: i would love to put that in my pond...with genes like that anythings possible.  sweet looking bass would have love to watch the epic battle or be in it.

I've heard it's been slow... But the advice I got was that they "gotta eat sometime as they prepare for the spawn"... I'll be hitting it hard for sure!
