reloading steel shot
« on: April 02, 2013, 08:26:02 PM »
I am going to start reloading my steel shot waterfowl loads. I am curious if anyone has any good 1 1/4oz #2 shot recipes or what they have found successful in the past for a duck/goose combo? Thanks for any advise.  :IBCOOL:
This is the year im going to get drawn, i can feel it. NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED... damn :(

I load a Remington nitro hull (black one)
30 gr of Alliant steel powder
B&P 35 wad
Fed 209 primer
1 1/4 #2 shot
It runs about 1400 fps
I get 90% pattern at 40 yards with a kicks high flyer full choke out of a stoeger 3500

Spend a couple of bucks and buy a good shotshell manual, they cost about the price of one box of shells(good ones)

http://www.ballisticproducts.com/Reloading-Manuals/products/16/
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska
