I just took the Nosler tour in Bend last weekend, the guy said Mr Nosler shoots a 300wsm. Great minds think alike as I also shoot a 300 WSM.

I still dont reason to go custom for under 500 yards regardless of caliber. You can pick up one of several factory rifles that will do the exact same thing out to 500. I could understand if you were doing it in some sort of odd ball caliber but you could pick those calibers up in a sub moa weatherby, tikka, savage etc and get excellent results at that range.

Some people will shoot mossbergs all day where others will shoot a cooper. All on what a guy wants and can afford. That's why I'm guessing he wants a custom. Why not!!!!

My bad.  I made the assumption that because John Nosler is quoted in the Nosler Number 6 reloading manual as saying "So I must admit my favorite rifles are chambered in 7mm caliber" meant that he liked 7mm's.  That is on the 7mm Remington Magnum page I think.  Maybe I better read that again to make sure.  Thanks for the correction.  I do realize that there have been more than one Mr. Nosler.

Which Mr. Nosler?  John Nosler, the inventor of the Partition, died a couple of years ago.  He was shooting a 300 H&H when he developed the Partition.   Later in life, his pet rifle was a custom rifle chambered in 280 Remington.
