.50 cal wad?
« on: April 14, 2013, 08:55:33 PM »
Posts have really slowed down.  Thanks to Sabotloader, or there wouldn't be anything to read. :yike:

Not sure why it crossed my mind....but could I load my muzzleloader rifle with a sabot/wad containing shot (or whatever projectile(s) thereby protecting the rifling.....and unleash accurate hell on smaller creatures? (or paper).

:dunno:  Doesn't that sound cool though?

The problem with that idea is that the wad would come out the barrel spinning and, I would think, fling your shot out in a BIG circle.  If you were to try it, I don't know how the shot would damage your barrel without a wad since it is no harder than a full bore bullet going down it.   :dunno:

Yeah, a 50 cal fiber wad would work.  I think the shot would still spin out the barrel with the rifling.
