Turkey..... Its whats for supper
« on: April 23, 2013, 07:47:38 PM »
Hey guys we had a great 4 day weekend hunting Turkey birds. To start the week off my dad got a nice bird the second day of season posted previously in a different topic yea for dad.
So we rolled into camp Thursday evening and get the trailer all set up and situated and by that time I was spent having worked all day. Have a few beers and BS around the fire and my dad looks at us and says its 11:30 you may want to think bout goin to bed so off to bed we go. Uggggg 4:15 alarm goes off so we make coffee much needed for sure pack our lunch up and head off to our spot. We get  going in the dark hiking up the trail and cover close to 2.5 miles and I decided to hit my Box call and BAM Gobble bout a mile away so we hot footed it down the road and covered the distance fast bout 30mins. So we move in close to where we think he is but hes down on the road bout 80yards below us so I pulled MY Primos crystal pot call and he hammered me then we get hammered by 3 more birds behind us, long story short 2 of the birds that were behind us back doored us and busted us. The Tom on the road is still gobbling his head off so I told my wife you stay here and Im going after him and if I mess this up its my own fault but Im going to kill him. So I cut the distance to 40 yards and didnt make a sound and he came strutting right up the hill to me, he finally gave me a shot at 15yards and lights out for him I gave out a holler and the wife came down off the hill to celebrate with me.

they were hunting the state land off of BL cr...that ask permission in a couple spots and were told no  :dunno: I do not know but I must be lucky when it comes to getting permission ...I never had any trouble getting permission in that area but now there are so many hunters I think it is changing !
