Camera question?
« on: October 08, 2008, 08:14:00 AM »
Is there a camera, night and day, that you can log on to your computer and see real time? Also, is there a camera the you can move remotely from your computer?

smart scouter will send pictures to your cell or email.  I would need a sat phone for it to work in the places I've been scouting, I don't know that their Sprint plans would do the trick.  But yeah, the cams are like $650 plus you have to pay for data transmission.

Then there's PixController trail cams.  They're $350 plus you have to use a Palm Treo phone (and it looks like the unit is just a fancy motion sensor setup that triggers the camera on the phone)... plus the cellular plan, plus a data plan (the files are too big to just send as text messages, I believe) plus you'll probably want the external battery pack because cell phones don't last very long if they're on all the time.

Those are the two I've heard about.

A peculiar virtue in wildlife ethics is that the hunter ordinarily has no gallery to applaud or disapprove of his conduct. Whatever his acts, they are dictated by his own conscience, rather than that of onlookers. It is difficult to exaggerate the importance of this fact.

I think Buckeye Cam makes one that is wireless remote, good to about 4 miles, and you can even daisy chain cameras together to get pictures from cameras farther away.  www.chasingame.com has some pretty good reviews and comparision tests for a bunch of different cameras...just found them myself a couple of days ago...
